Palo Santo Essential Oil has a fresh, intense woody aroma with a slight hint of citrus.
The tree of Palo Santo is originally from the dry tropical forests on the coast of the South Pacific, Ecuador being the main country where this tree is found. The Palo Santo Oil is only concentrated and deposited in the interior of the tree trunk. It can take up to 10 years to produce the oil and to get concentrated in their trunk. Only tree branches that fall naturally from the ground are used to make this oil. The average life of the tree of Palo Santo is between 80 and 90 years.
History - The natives in Ecuador have used it mainly to protect themselves from insects (mosquito) and also in ancestral rituals where shamans use this oil to clear bad energy from the bodies. They also used it as an essential oil to perfume and clear the energy of their homes.
Long regarded as a spiritual oil, Palo Santo oil was used during the time of the Incas for its reputed spiritual purifying properties. Palo Santo oil traditionally has been used for repelling insects, helping with coughs asthma and allergies, psoriasis, acne, wounds and sprains, arthritis, neck pain, and muscle aches.
Today, Palo Santo oil is considered for its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial qualities. The use of the oil supports states of calmness and relaxation beneficial during meditation, concentration and for enhancing creativity and learning. It can be used to release negative energy and purify the spirit.
The oil may be externally applied to the body for energy clearing to increase relaxation and to activate its pleasant therapeutic qualities.
Many people find the essential oil and blends to be an effective supplement in the treatment of physical pain and discomfort in areas such as wrist and knee joints, stomach, neck, back, legs, hands, and feet.
